What Happens Afterward?

So, this post might be a little bit late, but only a little.

Easter. The Son of God coming down to earth to bring the Kingdom of God to earth, died on a cross, and rose again three days later.

So what does that mean? What does it mean today? How did it change the world?

How did the Son of God change the world by dying and coming to life again?

A few thousand years before that humans chose sin over what God told us to do. When we took on sin it made a barrier between the natural relationship we had with God. God being holy separates Himself from sin.

For a few thousand years sin and darkness ruled the earth but the Light of God was always present even in the smallest of ways.

Then it was time for God to send His only Son to die for the children who had left their Father and sold themselves into slavery to darkness. We, human beings, had unknowingly given ourselves over to darkness. Darkness held us as slaves.

God did not want the children that He lovingly created to be bound to darkness forever. So, He sent His only begotten Son to pay the price for we who had given ourselves over. Those of us who had wanted the darkness more than the safety and Love of His Light. Those of us who thought we knew better than He who created us. He sent His Son to save those who cursed Him, spit on Him, laughed at Him, and turned away from Him. His Love is that big.

Jesus died the death that we deserved. He bought us back from darkness. The price for our freedom was sinless blood sacrifice. One that Jesus willingly gave. After His death, He rose three days later.

What does this mean for the world even now?

When He rose He took back ownership over the world, and defeated death, and darkness. So, now we do not live in darkness. Darkness still exists but it is defeated. We live knowing Hope. We Live! We have the choice not just to survive but to live! If we are living with our heads down, barely having the strength to lift one foot in front of the other, drinking poison, and only knowing anger, bitterness and despair it is because we choose to. We may live thinking there is no other option than to survive and that we can only follow the current pulling us, but we are not without Hope. We have the choice now. Darkness or Light? We can go against the current. Darkness has no power unless we give it power over us. We can chose to take the path of least resistance with our eyes on the floor, fear and anger coursing through our minds, drinking poison and letting it control us. We can live in darkness, where we are bound in heavy chains yet told that we are in control.

Or we can accept the gift that has been given to us. The Gift of Love, Light, and Life forever. We can lift our heads knowing who we are, and who created us and loves us. We can live! For our Father is the Creator of Life and calls us to walk in Light and Life with Him. We can walk through days of darkness and even drink poison knowing that they have no power over the Light that has been given to us and lives in us. We can follow the Light of God knowing that where He leads is Good and that He Loves us. We are Children of the Most High God whether we choose that or not. He is calling us back into His Light and Love.
